Nurturing Narratives

For the first time, We Write Las Vegas is proud to announce Nurturing Narratives: A Beginner's Year Long Journey in Storytelling. We are offering this creative writing cohort, to a small group of emerging writers, who will meet five times a year, online, to create a safe space to write their story. At WeWrite!, we believe that everyone has a story. The more we write our stories, the more we diversify what is currently available. This class aims to spark the creative writer within, create a supportive environment, and encourage participants to not only write but share their story.

When you join the Nurturing Narratives: A Beginner's Year Long Journey in Storytelling, you join a small cohort of writers looking to devote a year to improving their craft and process. We will meet once a quarter, which is designed to give writers personal time to develop their craft between classes. During class, you will be part of a supportive community and we will read published work and respond to writing prompts which are aimed to help you achieve your writing goals. There will be reserved time for those who want to share their work with the group. Each class will focus on literary elements of storytelling through different published works. As part of the mission of WeWrite!, readings will focus on Asian American voices. During our last class in December, we will celebrate our progress and focus on future writing goals. Whether your story is fiction or nonfiction, this class is for you! No prior creative writing experience is required.

Participants will be invited to WeWrite’s annual Salon/ Showcase in June 2025, where writers will have the opportunity to share some of their work with the audience. The Salon will be in person in Las Vegas, but there will be an online option for those who cannot attend.

This year-long cohort is free. We only meet 5  times a year, so we request participants to attend all the classes. We appreciate a 24-hour notice if you cannot attend a class. If you are interested, please fill out the application by February 10, 2024. Applicants will be notified by February 17, 2024.  We will prioritize former WeWrite! participants then open registration to the public. We aim to keep this cohort small and intimate by having ten participants. Participants will be chosen based on responses from the form. The cohort should consist of emerging writers who are looking for a writing community and are committed to improving their craft.
